In terms of design, the new Sonet features boomerang-shaped headlamp clusters with the signature tiger-nose grille.The DRLs now extend downwards and it get an overall refreshed design. It also gets re-designed front facia with a new bumpers. At sides, the overall profile looks largely unchanged but it gets re-designed dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the SUV gets connected to LED taillights which look similar to the Seltos. The rear bumper is re-designed and it also gets an integrated spoiler.

The new Sonet is expected to come with 10 colour options besides a matte edition. Its also expected to get the new Pewter Olive exterior colour theme like Seltos. Moving inside, the overall dashboard layout will remain the same but Kia might offer new upholstery options. In terms of features, it’s expected to get a a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, connected car tech, electric controls for driver seats, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and much more.

The new Sonet will get ADAS features such as forward collision warning (for car, pedestrian, and cycle), lane keep assist and departure warning, driver attention warning, high-beam assist, lane following assist, and leading vehicle lane departure alert. In terms of safety, it gets 6 airbags, TCS, ABS, EBD, stability control, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS and much more.

Sonet facelift will see no updates in terms of powertrain. The SUV will continue to be offered with three engine options – a 120 PS 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 83PS 1.2-litre NA petrol, and 116PS 1.5-litre turbo diesel engines. Gearbox options will include iMT (clutchless manual), AT and 5-speed manual.

The price for the outgoing model starts from Rs 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom), with the addition of new features and designs the price for the new Sonet is expected to start from Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The Kia Sonet facelift continues to compete with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Mahindra XUV 300.
