Porschemade the global unveil of its 2024 Panamera sport saloon in Dubai on November 24, the four-door Porsche enters a new generation and gets an updated exterior design. While design changes are mostly evolutionary, the front is now more aggressive thanks to an additional air-vent up front, aggressive crates on the hood and silver-finished vertical section on the front bumper. The HD matrix beam LED headlamps now get a slightly sharper design and quad-lamp set up with integrated DRLs. The Panamera continues to be the low slung, over 5-metre long sport saloon and retains the Iron-Man style, fold-out style active rear spoiler. The rear lamps are also LED and get a clear lens housing, however, the design is now sleeker than before.
What’s the ‘big deal’?
The third generation Panamera is a long awaited update to the sport saloon as the second-generation has been on sale since 2016, without any major updates. More importantly, it is also being speculated that this could be the last petrol-powered Panamera that is produced by Porsche going forward. However, Porsche has not confirmed this news yet.
More powerful engines options but hybrid:
The 2024 Panamera is being offered in two turbocharged engine options, a 2.9-litre V6 for the Panamera and Panamera 4 and the 4.0-litre V8 engine in the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, which is additionally a plug-in hybrid. The drivetrain put out a combined power figure of 680 hp and 930 Nm of torque. The E-Hybrid gets an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission but the special part is that it has the electric motor integrated within it, saving an additional 5 kg by removing the need for a separate electric motor.
