2025 KTM 390 Adventure spied testing in India: What to expect from this upcoming RE Himalayan 450 rival

KTM is gearing up to debut the latest iteration of its popular 390 Adventure motorcycle in India. Recently, a test mule of this highly-anticipated model was spotted on Indian roads. After updating the 390 and 250 Duke models, KTM is now turning its attention to the 390 Adventure as part of its next-generation lineup for the country.
The current-gen 390 Adventure, launched in 2019, is due for an upgrade. This new model will go head-to-head with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Here’s what we can expect from the upcoming 2025 KTM 390 Adventure.
KTM 390 Adventure: What to expect
Based on recent spy shots, the motorcycle appears to be shifting from its urban-friendly design to a more rugged off-road style, resembling the bikes used in the Dakar Rally. The nearly production-ready motorcycle sports a beak-style fender, tall fairing, and flat tail section, giving it a true adventure bike appearance. Besides, it appears to have a taller stance with increased ground clearance.

One of the most noticeable changes is the new twin circular LED headlights. Additional features include an underbelly sump guard, split grab rails, a robust fuel tank, and side fairings. The updated 390 Adventure will also boast a rally-inspired high-mounted color TFT display. It will be built on a strengthened trellis frame and can be expected to come paired with longer-travel suspension to handle rough terrains more effectively.
Speaking of the engine, the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure will feature the new 399cc, liquid-cooled motor, first introduced in the 2024 KTM 390 Duke. This single-cylinder engine pumps out 45.3bhp and 39 Nm of peak torque on the Duke. The engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. However, for the 390 Adventure, it is possible that the company will tune it differently to suit the character of the off-roader.
As for its debut, we can expect the motorcycle to break covers globally towards the latter months of the year, followed by India launch in Q1 2025. However, the manufacturer hasn’t officially confirmed any timeline yet.
