£45,000-a-week Crystal Palace player is dreaming of a move to Barcelona

One Crystal Palace player is still dreaming of a move to Barcelona – according to sources in Spain.

The Camp Nou used to be the pinnacle of world football along with Real Madrid, as the likes of Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi captivated imaginations of fans all over the planet.

Barcelona are no longer what they used to be – due to well documented financial problems in recent years – although Crystal Palace No.12 Daniel Munoz is still aiming to sign for the Spanish giants one day…

Daniel Munoz wants to join Barcelona

A story from Mundo Deportivo in Spain claims that the Colombia international is still dreaming of a move to Barcelona.

The Spanish news outlet relayed quotes from Munoz in July 2020, when he said: “I see this move (to Genk) as a great opportunity for growth. The Belgian league can help me develop further. I dream of playing in top leagues like the Premier League or La Liga, with my ultimate goal being to play for Barcelona. Genk has a history of selling players like Courtois, Benteke, and De Bruyne.”

While those comments were made four years ago, Mundo Deportivo believe the South American is still aiming to play for Barcelona – although they do not state when he is hoping to move to Catalonia.

Interestingly, putting Barcelona aside for a moment, Mundo Deportivo describe Munoz as the best performing right-back at the Copa America right now, which speaks volumes about his displays.

Crystal Palace fans would surely be devastated to lose the Colombia international

If the South American was to depart anytime soon, Crystal Palace fans would surely be gutted.

Munoz has become an immediate fan favourite since his £6.8m move from Genk in January, blowing supporters away with his all-action performances, which sometimes even see him pop up on the left flank or even in a striker role.

The £45,000-a-week man is far from your conventional right-back, to say the least.

The 28-year-old impressively provided four assists in 16 Premier League appearances after his January arrival, and has also scored twice for Colombia in that time, so we would expect him to be a real threat for opposition defences next season after a full pre-season under Oliver Glasner.

Hopefully, Munoz spend plenty of time at Selhurst Park, and is not thinking about a move to Barcelona anytime soon.
