The budget-friendly cream has been flying off shelves all over the world after beauty fans discovered how the two products compared.

Both 60g moisturisers have similar anti-ageing and hydrating ingredients, including mineral oil, petrolatum and glycerin.

“Did you know there’s a dupe for the La Mer Crème?” a Chemist Warehouse spokeswoman said in a TikTok video.

“Why spend over $500 on La Mer when you can use Nivea Crème? It’s super affordable and such a classic.

“The base ingredients for both are the same.”

Women have been swearing by the Creme de la Mer – the name means “cream of the sea” – for its “anti-ageing powers”, with many claiming their skin feels firm, radiant and well nourished after using.

But thrifty shoppers have declared they have found the perfect dupe after stumbling across the classic NIVEA Crème.

The product has received more than 20,000 near-perfect ratings from around the world.

“If you want a cheaper La Mer cream – this is it! Perfect for face, body and amazing to be mixed with a foundation. Keeps your skin feeling and looking young, glowy and moisturised,” one shopper raved.

‘Great dupe’

Another said: “This product is great for removing makeup for my dry skin, especially in the winter. It leaves my skin smooth, clean and moisturised. This is also a great dupe for Crème de la Mer.”

One revealed: “It is the same thing as La Mer’s cream except it’s at a more reasonable and affordable price point. It’s great for winter as a facial moisturiser, a little goes a long way.”

Another shared: “I had used the La Mer Crème years ago and loved it but just can’t justify the price tag. Enter this cream. It’s a little heavier than the La Mer one but my god it’s just as amazing.”

However, others have pointed out some differences.

“It’s not exactly the same as it’s missing the seaweed extract. But the hydration you get from it is great. If you are looking for cheap, hydrating cream for dry skin or in winter months, this is the one,” one said.
