MONSOON MENSTRUAL CARE TIPS

  1. Change the sanitary napkins, tampons, and menstrual cups every 3-4 hours: During the monsoon, pay extra attention to menstrual hygiene to keep infections at bay. So, sanitary napkins or tampons frequently, as the humidity can promote bacteria that can further cause allergies and infections. One should wash hands after changing these products and curb the spread of germs. Choose the right product that works for you and take the doctor’s help, if required. Using the wrong products can make one uncomfortable.
  2.  Keep the vaginal area clean and dry: It is essential to avoid using scented feminine hygiene products that may cause irritation or disrupt the pH balance of your vagina. One should keep it clean, and dry and use products only after consulting the doctor. Stay hydrated and eat a well-balanced diet as well. Try to eat fresh fruits and vegetables and avoid foods that irritate down there such as onions, spicy food, alcohol, smoking, and garlic. Douching is a strict no-no and can invite an infection down there.
  3. Wear cotton undergarments: It will be imperative for women to avoid wearing tight nylon clothes. Instead, go for breathable cotton clothes that help with proper circulation and prevent odor.
  4. Avoid shaving: It is better to avoid shaving as the area down there remains moist and wet during monsoon and is an ideal environment for the bacteria to grow and multiply causing an infection. So, it is a good idea to avoid shaving during monsoon. In case you have sensitive skin down there then be extra careful and seek an expert’s help regarding the products that are suitable for your skin type.
  5. Shower twice every day: The humidity during the rainy season will cause excessive sweat and odor down there. It is better to shower at least twice a day and use unscented soaps or body washes as recommended by the expert. Try to follow these tips and you will have problem-free menses during monsoon.
