(NewsNation) — Rep. James Comer, R-Kentucky, states that there is significant interest in UFOs following a whistleblower’s allegations about the U.S. government’s possession of non-human spacecraft.
The chair of the House Oversight Committee reveals that he and other lawmakers are aiming to hold a hearing on the subject later this month. Reps. Tim Burchett of Tennessee and Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, both Republicans, are leading the investigations within the Oversight committee.
“They are very passionate about this issue,” Comer said. “I have been surprised by the number of questions I have received about this topic, so I believe there is a lot of interest.”
Luna previously informed NewsNation that the hearing will likely be bipartisan and held in her home state.
Comer adds that with the growing distrust in the government, the hearing has the potential to be “quite sensitive.”
In June, David Grusch, a former member of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, spoke to journalist Ross Coulthart about his claims that government officials have been retrieving extraterrestrial nonhuman spacecraft and studying them for decades.
However, in a previous statement, the Pentagon has declared that to date, there is no verifiable information “to support claims that any programs related to the possession or reverse engineering of extraterrestrial materials have existed in the past or currently exist.”
