The Fatal Consequences of COVID Censorship

We have just witnessed the most significant attack on freedom of speech in U.S. history, and it seems that the outcome of the “most important free speech lawsuit of this generation” is inevitable. This lawsuit accuses the federal government of collaborating with social media companies to censor Americans. U.S. District Judge Terry A. Doughty, in issuing a preliminary injunction, agreed with the plaintiffs that the government had indeed colluded with social media companies to suppress free speech. He wrote, “If the allegations made by Plaintiffs are true, the present case arguably involves the most massive attack against free speech in United States’ history.” The government attempted to have the case dismissed, but failed. The lawsuit, Missouri et al v. Biden et al, was filed in May 2022 by the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana, as well as plaintiffs Dr. Jayanta Bhattacharya and Dr. Martin Kulldorff, who are co-authors of the Great Barrington Declaration. The lawsuit argues that the Biden administration worked with social media giants Meta, Twitter, and YouTube to censor free speech under the guise of combating “disinformation” and “misinformation.” The government suppressed and censored information on topics related to COVID-19 vaccines, the origin of COVID-19, and Hunter Biden’s laptop. Judge Doughty denied the government’s motion to dismiss the case, which called for testimonies from Dr. Anthony Fauci and other officials. The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA), representing Bhattacharya and Kulldorff, stated that the government pressured social media platforms to censor their clients for expressing views opposing the Biden Administration. The judge’s ruling acknowledged the government’s systemic program to coerce Big Tech to censor and upheld First Amendment principles. The ruling also prohibited the government from meeting with social media companies to discuss online content. This decision is seen as a victory against the government’s censorship efforts. It is essential to recognize the damage already caused by censorship during the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented important insights and silenced dissenting voices. The ruling restrains the government and other defendants from engaging with social media in ways that suppress protected free speech. This decision protects the right to free speech and exposes the globalist agenda of controlling information and spreading propaganda.
