Ola S1 Air Available for Purchase: Over 3,000 Units Sold in Just Hours

Ola Electric opened the purchase window for its entry-level S1 Air electric scooter in the Indian market on July 27 – a day before it was originally supposed to. The company’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal took to Twitter to announce that Ola Electric managed to sell 3,000 units of the new Ola S1 Air in a matter of a few hours. It should be noted that the S1 variant of the e-scooter has now been discontinued, which means that there are now two models on offer – the entry-level S1 Air and the flagship S1 Pro.

The S1 Air is equipped with a 3 kWh battery pack that can be fully charged in five hours, and offers a claimed range of up to 125 km.

As against the more expensive S1 Pro that is equipped with a single shock suspension at the front and rear, the S1 Air gets new twin telescopic fork suspension at the front, while the rear is a dual shock unit.
The S1 Air gets drum brakes on both ends, as opposed to the dual disc brakes on offer with the S1 Pro. The more-affordable S1 Air also misses out on alloy wheels, but is slightly lighter than its more expensive counterpart.

The Ola S1 Air has a peak power output of 4.5 kW, with a claimed top speed of 90 kmph. The entry-level model is priced at Rs 1.10 lakh while the S1 Pro will set you back by Rs 1.40 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). That said, the Ola S1 Air will soon be joined by a new rival in the form of the Ather 450S, all set to be launched in the country on August 3.
