Trader Joe’s recalls are becoming reminiscent of the fable Stone Soup with a dark twist.
In the past two days, the Monrovia-based grocery chain has issued two recalls for food products that may contain non-food items.
Recently, the company announced that its fully cooked falafel (with the SKU number 93935) may contain rocks. It’s worth noting that the falafel was sold in 35 states and Washington, D.C., but seemingly not in California.
If this latest recall sounds familiar, it’s because just four days ago, the chain issued a recall on two types of cookies that also may contain rocks. The cookies in question are Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies (SKU# 98744) and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies (SKU# 82752).
The supplier of Trader Joe’s alerted them to the presence of rocks in both the treats and the falafel.
Additionally, the company has removed its Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup from shelves due to a potential insect contamination. (Weirdly, more protein!)
Trader Joe’s did not specify the type of insect found in the soup. Customers who purchased the soup should look for (SKU# 68470) and check for “use by” dates ranging from 07/18/23 to 09/15/23.
“No known adverse health effects have been reported to date, and all potentially affected product has been removed from sale and destroyed,” the company stated.
