An Army personnel in Jodhpur, Rajasthan has been taken into custody after his wife and two-year-old daughter were found dead in their official quarter under suspicious circumstances. The charred remains of 25-year-old Rukmeena and her daughter Riddhima were discovered on a bed. Ram Prasad, Rukmeena’s husband, claimed that a fire caused by a short circuit resulted in their deaths. Ram Prasad, who is a Naik in the Indian Army, has been detained by the police. The woman’s relatives have been informed and a post-mortem will be conducted once they arrive in Jodhpur. Ram Prasad and his family had been living in the military quarters for about two years. The police are investigating the incident and have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against Ram Prasad. In a separate incident, an Army soldier allegedly shot dead his younger brother in Jaipur. The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered against him under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
