Alfa Romeo is set to transition into an all-electric brand in the coming years, but it will release one final supercar powered by an internal combustion engine (ICE) on August 30. Although the new supercar does not yet have a name, it is rumored to be called the “6C” or “33” due to its six-cylinder engine and design inspired by the 33 Stradale. Alfa Romeo recently shared a teaser image on its Italian Instagram account, revealing what appears to be the steering wheel with a brown center cap and silver badge. While the car is expected to be based on the Maserati MC20, the steering wheel features a different layout with minimalist controls on the spokes. Only 33 units of the supercar will be produced, and they have already been sold to wealthy individuals who desire a piece of future automotive history. With a price tag over €1 million, the Alfa Romeo 33 is estimated to be approximately five times more expensive than the base MC20 in Italy. The 33 is anticipated to have a top speed of 206 mph (333 km/h), making it slightly faster than its Maserati counterpart, which has a top speed of “only” 202 mph (325 km/h). While details about the acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) are not yet available, it’s worth noting that the MC20 achieves this in just 2.9 seconds. The choice of engine for the 33 remains uncertain, with possibilities including the twin-turbo 3.0-liter Nettuno V6 from Maserati or the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 found in the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models. Some sources suggest the 33 could be a hybrid, combining the Nettuno engine with an electric motor to produce approximately 800 horsepower. This launch might not be Alfa Romeo’s final ICE offering, as they are planning to introduce a sub-Tonale crossover next year, which could offer both pure electric and mild-hybrid variants. However, all future models following these releases will be purely electric, including replacements for the Giulia and Stelvio, as well as a larger SUV targeting the US market.
