Last year, Sir Paul McCartney’s Got Back tour took The Beatles star across the USA before concluding with an epic Glastonbury headline set in his native England.
Now over a year since the tour concluded and the 81-year-old has announced new dates teasing he plans to play in venues that he’s not before.
In a new video on his Instagram account, he said: “Hey, listen I’ve got some good news for you.
“We’ll be coming back on the road, getting out with the band and playing places, some of which we’ve never played before.
“So we’re really excited. We’re coming back! We Got Back!”
The first set of tour dates McCartney has announced are six shows in Australia this Autumn. Macca will resume his Got Back tour in Adelaide on October 18, before heading to Melbourne on October 21 and Newcastle on October 24.
The Beatles legend will then perform in Sydney on October 27, Brisbane on November 1 and Gold Coast on November 4.
The 81-year-old: ’I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years. Our last trip was so much fun. We had such an incredible time. Each show was a party, so we know this is going to be incredibly special. Australia we are going to rock! I can’t wait to see you.”
Macca captioned the post: “It’s time to get back to where we once belonged. The GOT BACK tour returns this year, starting with a 6-show run in Australia!”
Presumably, this is just the first set of new dates on the resumed tour that are to be announced, so fingers crossed he returns to the UK.
Pre-sale tickets for Paul McCartney’s Got Back Australian tour are available from August 9 with general sale following two days later. More information on tickets is available here.
