Why a Single Woman Chooses LinkedIn as a Dating Platform over Tinder and Hinge

But in an amusing twist, the 37-year-old has found an unlikely place to score dates after her friend tried to set her up with a “very attractive” man via LinkedIn.

“Why am I using LinkedIn as a dating app? The filters,” she explained in her TikTok video.

“I’m looking for A-grade men and LinkedIn has A-grade filters. It’s all part of my effort to make dating in Singapore a little more fun.”

She said the professional networking app has allowed her to filter her pool of potential matches by narrowing down her search results to three things that’s important to her – education, occupation and location.

“Number one – I can filter for an education, MBA baby,” Gallagher said, suggesting she wants a man who has a master of business administration degree.

The second thing she looks at is the type of industry the men are working in.

“I’m looking at doctors, lawyers, finance…” she said.

Finally, she filters the location to ensure the men are in the same country as her.

“It’s very important,” she said.

However, Gallagher quickly pointed out one thing she can’t verify – men’s height.

“Unfortunately I can’t filter by height at least there are very good looking photos that I can kind of do some height analysis on,” she said.

Her video has been viewed more than 940,000 times – with many describing her dating method as “brilliant”, “clever” and “genius” while others said they were curious to give it a go.

“I just created my LinkedIn profile a few days ago and I thought about this too,” one confessed, laughing.

Another suggested: “The filters that really matter.”

One shared: “I did this too and the results were fascinating.”

‘It works’

Meanwhile, some shared their success stories after they found potential dates on LinkedIn.

“I dated a top executive at a major media company that I met on LinkedIn. So yeah, it works,” one woman said.

Another revealed: “I used this once and it worked.”

However, one suggested: “Tried this but so much easier said than done. It’s very time consuming, need more filters.”
