The squad will be playing against England in September as part of their preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
Boult, who is 34 years old, will be playing his first 50-overs international match in over a year after being selected in the 15-member squad to face England.
His absence from the Black Caps’ lineup last year was due to his decision to not sign a central contract in order to participate in Australia’s Big Bash League.
With his return to the squad and his previous agreement with New Zealand Cricket, Boult is expected to have a significant impact in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India in October.
New Zealand head coach Gary Stead expressed his excitement in welcoming Trent back to the ODI unit and acknowledged that he will be preparing for the World Cup.
Boult is one of the best ODI bowlers in the world, having taken 187 wickets at that level and a further 74 in Twenty20 cricket for New Zealand.
Kyle Jamieson, who has taken 72 wickets in 16 Tests, also makes a return to the New Zealand white ball squad after recovering from a back injury.
Batter Tom Latham will captain the experienced side, which includes Test skipper Tim Southee who will be bowling alongside Boult.
New Zealand will play four ODI internationals against England from September 8 to 15.
Stead mentioned that England will provide a good challenge for New Zealand ahead of the ODI World Cup and expressed his excitement for the upcoming matches.
Kane Williamson, who suffered knee ligament injury in April, will train with the New Zealand squad in England as part of his rehabilitation.
The Black Caps will also play three Twenty20 matches against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai from August 17 to 20, as well as four T20 matches against England from August 30 to September 5.
New Zealand will also have a three-game ODI series in Bangladesh at the end of September.
