TOKYO: Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs YAMADA Kenji will visit Israel, Palestine, Lebanon and Egypt from August 13 to 18, the Foreign Ministry said.
In Israel and Palestine, he will hold meetings to exchange views on issues such as peace in the Middle East, and will work to strengthen cooperative relations with Japan in a wide range of areas, including politics and economics. He will also visit the Jericho Agro-Industrial Park and Palestinian refugee camps.
In Lebanon, Yamada will exchange views on efforts to stabilize the situation in Lebanon, strengthen cooperative relations with Japan, and cover the situation in Syria. He will also visit a refugee camp in Lebanon.
Following on from Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio’s visit to Egypt in April this year, Yamada will seek to reaffirm the future of cooperative relations in a wide range of fields, such as politics and economic activities. In addition, he will visit major economic and development cooperation projects and exchange opinions with relevant parties.
Yamada will depart Tokyo on August 12 and arrive in Israel on the 13th. On the 15th, he will move to Amman before arriving in Beirut. He will then travel to Cairo on the 16th and depart for Japan on the 18th.
