Helmed by director Meher Ramesh, ‘Bholaa Shankar’ is a remake of the Tamil hit ‘Vedalam,’ which originally featured Ajith in the lead role.
Alongside Chiranjeevi and the leading ladies, the film also showcased performances by Tamannaah Bhatia and Keerthy Suresh in pivotal roles. Despite the hype surrounding its release, the film’s early box office figures are far from promising.
The first day of release saw ‘Bholaa Shankar’ manage to rake in a gross of Rs 16 crore, a somewhat respectable figure. However, this initial spark failed to translate into sustained momentum. The subsequent days witnessed a significant drop in box office collections. On the second day, the film’s earnings dwindled further, resulting in a modest collection of Rs 7 crore. The trend continued on day three, with early estimates suggesting an even more disappointing figure of Rs 3 crore.
While the film has managed to amass a total box office collection of over Rs 20 crore, it remains uncertain whether it will manage to break even. ‘Bholaa Shankar’ was reportedly crafted with a substantial budget of Rs 80 crores, adding to the pressure of its financial success.
With its current trajectory, ‘Bholaa Shankar’ faces the ominous prospect of becoming a box office disaster, a sentiment that is likely to disappoint the fervent fan base of Chiranjeevi. The uncertainty surrounding the film’s performance in the coming days has only added to the anxiety of both the makers and the fans.
Adding to the challenges, ‘Bholaa Shankar’ has found itself in the midst of fierce competition from three other major releases that hit the screens during the same weekend. Rajinikanth’s ‘Jailer‘ made its debut in the Tamil film industry, while Sunny Deol’s ‘Gadar 2’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’ graced the Hindi film arena. This intense competition has inevitably divided the audience’s attention and further impacted the film’s prospects.
