WhatsApp recently rolled out the ability to launch edit media captions. Now an online report reveals that the popular messaging app is working on a new feature.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is developing new text formatting tools for better user experience. These new text formatting tools include syntax for blocking code snippets, quoting specific text, and creating text lists.
Upcoming text formatting tools on WhatsApp
The report has also shared a screenshot explaining the upcoming features. The “Code Block” feature is designed to make sharing and reading lines of code much more convenient and readable on WhatsApp. It is particularly useful for software developers, programmers, and anyone involved in the tech industry who frequently communicates code snippets with their colleagues or friends. “By introducing this new text formatting tool, WhatsApp aims to eliminate the common problem of code snippets being displayed in a confusing way, enhancing the overall quality of technical discussions,” mentions the report.
The Quote feature on the other hand will help users refer back to specific messages or responses in a chat. It’s different from the current quote message feature, as this new formatting tool will allow users to highlight a certain portion of text.
Lastly, the third formatting tool will simply allow users to create a list of items.
WhatsApp users can now edit media captions
The Meta-owned platform recently rolled out the edit media caption feature. The new edit media caption feature of WhatsApp enable users to fix typos within 15 minutes of sending the message with a media file such as photo, GIF or video. In order to use the feature users need to install the updated version of the app. The feature is available for Android, iOS and desktop users. In order to edit a media caption, users just have to tap and hold on to a recent message with a caption.
