Temperatures for the festival will range from upper 80s to low 90s for most days, which is “nothing too unusual” for the area, Tony Fuentes, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, told SFGATE. Overall, he said, conditions will be about “average” for the area in late summer.

Fuentes said the area is fairly dry, but it will get windy from Tuesday to Wednesday, with 20 to 30 mph wind gusts near the playa. Toward Labor Day Weekend, it may get windy again, but temperatures are expected to stay in the usual warm to hot conditions.

Festival organizers initially closed the gates for Burning Man on Sunday because of muddy conditions and flooding from the remnants of Tropical Storm Hilary. After pushing back the gate’s opening twice, festival organizers finally opened the festival grounds Wednesday.

Some early attendees described the current conditions as pleasant on social media.

“Conditions are amazing, ground is hard, spirits are high,” one Reddit user posted, with a photo of a clear sky.
