The post further read that the restrictions will only be applicable in the small portions of the NDMC area, that too, for short intervals of time.
In the G20 Summit traffic advisory, Delhi Police said that the NDMC (New Delhi Municipal Corporation) area will be in a controlled zone. Vehicles passing through New Delhi will be diverted towards the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways and other alternative routes.
The revised advisory seems to have created confusion among people said the Delhi Police officials. Recently, Virender Vij, DCP Traffic said that the traffic restrictions at the borders with Delhi were only meant for heavy commercial vehicles.
In a conversation with TimesofIndia, Vij further says, “There should be any confusion among people. There is no restriction on the movement of private vehicles and cabs. People can go to the airport, railway station or wherever they want. We are just asking them to budget for some extra time because of the traffic restrictions that will be in place in certain pockets.”
Hence, it is clear that the cabs and private cars would be allowed through the border, the Delhi Police have urged residents to take the Metro route as far as possible.
