Anil Sharma helmed , Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2 recently completed 4 weeks at the box office and has had a competent run till now. But with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan releasing and amassing more than 100 crore in just 2 days, the sequel to Gadar- Ek Prem Katha is facing a bit of a dry spell. The film on Friday earned about 1 crore in early estimates as per Sacnilk. If the film does cross this number then it will go on to become second highest film of all time at the box office with its collection at 511 crore beating SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2- The Conclusion which made Rs 510.99 crore.
Sunny Doel starrer film in its first week minted ₹ 284.63 crore, in the second week ₹ 134.47 crore, and in the third week ₹ 63.35 crore. The film also became the fastest film in history to enter the five hundred crore club which till now only has Pathaan and Baahubali 2- The Conclusion as its members.
The makers of the film recently held the success party of the film which was very attended by the folks of industry. It had names like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Sidharth Malhotra, Kiara Advani, Shilpa Shetty, Tabu, Kartik Aaryan, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan etc.
Upon entering the 500 crore club, ‘Gadar 2’ director Anil Sharma had tweeted , “Dil Jhoom jhoom jaye .. 500+ Cr. GADAR GADAR ..GADAR.. #GADAR2 Congratulations.” Appreciating the box office success, Sunny Deol, who was present at the trailer launch of his younger son Rajveer’s film Dono, simply said “Thank You for loving the film and making it a success.”
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, Anil Sharma also spoke about the resounding success of Gadar 2 , he said , “I’m very fortunate, many people don’t get one Gadar, I got two. But I believe there is no magic in this from my side, it is all because of the blessings of god and my parents. It is God who has decided my happiness and my sorrow, so I can’t take credit for this feat.”
Adding more he also stated, “I’m someone who believes my success is not my success and my failure is not my failure, this is the upbringing my grandfather gave me. I was taught that what is going to happen will happen, if you are dumb you will cry over it, if you are smart you will have a smile on your face. I have seen a lot of good and bad times and I have taken both with the same face.”
