Apple event tomorrow: What to expect from iPhone 15 series, AirPods and Apple Watch Series 9 launch

The Apple event ‘Wonderlust’ is set for September 12. The company is expected to launch at least six new Apple products and possibly more. Apple will also announce the release dates for iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10 and tvOS 17. Apple unveiled these operating systems at WWDC23 in June, so the key features are all known. Apple’s September event is a hardware event, and like past many years this year too iPhones will be the stars of the show. Here’s all that Apple will launch at the event.
Four new iPhones
Coming your way are four new iPhones. As in the last few years, 2020 to be precise, Apple is likely to launch four models: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. There have been reports that the top-emd iPhone of 2023 may be called iPhone 15 Ultra, but new reports claim that Apple may stick to iPhone 15 Pro Max nomenclature. The regular iPhone 15 and 15 Plus will be the base models, featuring aluminum sides and a glass back.
The two high-end iPhone 15 models will feature Titanium frames. Last year’s big screen and camera upgrade — Dynamic Island and 48MP camera — is expected to come to the base iPhone 15 series models too this year. Apple may stick to different processors strategy this year as well. This means that iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will run on A16 Bionic processor while iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will get the latest-generation A17 processor. All four iPhone 15 models are also tipped to switch from Lightning to USB-C connectivity. The iPhone 15 colors are likely to be Black, White, Yellow and Blue; some reports also claim a Orange/Coral Pink option.
Two new Apple Watch models
Apple is expected to update two Apple Watch series with the launch of Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Apple Watch Series 9 will be available in the current 41-millimeter and 45-millimeter sizes. Apple is expected to stick to 49 mm size for its Apple Watch Ultra 2. All of the new Apple Watches models are expected to look like the last year’s models. This means that the standard watches will have the same basic design as the Series 4 introduced in 2018, while the Ultra keeps last year’s look. But yes, Apple may introduce new materials and colors. The big focus for the Apple Watch this year is speculated to be performance with the watches reported to get their first new chip since the Series 6. Apple is unlikely to launch a successor to Apple Watch SE 2 launched in 2022.
AirPods Pro
Another product line that is likely to get an update is AirPods Pro. Apple may launch AirPods Pro with USB type C charging support. The earbuds are unlikely to get any other major new hardware features, but a software update may bring improved automatic device switching and the ability to mute and unmute from the AirPods themselves. There may also be a new feature called Conversation Awareness that automatically silences media being played when people begin speaking to the wearer. The company also reportedly plans to bring USB-C charging to its low-end AirPods and AirPods Max as early as next year.
