On Wednesday, the Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) said that Govinda will be questioned with regards to a massive Rs 1000 crore pan India online ponzi scam investigation. The scam involved Sola Techno Alliance (STA-Token), and the company allegedly operated an illicit online ponzi scheme by posing as a crypto investment venture. It was being reported that Govinda endorsed the company’s operations in the promotional videos and hence he will be questioned by EOW officials.
The EOW Inspector General J. N. Pankaj stated, “We will soon send a team to Mumbai to question film star Govinda who had attended STA’s grand function in Goa in July and promoted the company in some videos.”
He had further said at this stage that is ‘neither a suspect nor an accused’. His specific role in the case will be determined only after a thorough investigation. If it is established that his involvement was limited to only celebrity endorsement, he may be classified as a witness in the case.
However, Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha has given clarification on this to ETimes. Shashi Sinha has clarified that half baked news has been circulated in the media and the actor has got nothing to do with it. Sinha said, “Govinda has not nothing to do with the case. Govinda had gone through an agency for an event and returned we have nothing to do with the business or branding of it. All half baked news has been published in the media.”
