Former Masterchef star launches DIY kits for restaurant quality meals at home

A former Masterchef contestant is bringing her talent to the kitchens of Australian families by partnering with a new meal kit service.

Linda Dalrymple, who featured on Season 13 of the show, has linked up with Make-Out Meals to deliver her signature Cambodian and Lao flavours to home cooks.

The service, available in Victoria, New South Wales and ACT, gives customers all the ingredients they need in each kit.

That includes expertly-curated marinades and sauces from Linda’s own recipes to recreate dishes like her Lemongrass Chicken Bao Buns, Cambodian Beef Skewers and Chicken Laab Gai.

Foodies can order the meal kits as a one-off or they can subscribe to a weekly range.

The options selected by Linda are representative of the hawker-style food which she grew up with, which is becoming increasingly popular since her success on MasterChef.

“I’m excited to showcase the flavours of Cambodia through the Make-Out Meals platform,” said Linda.

“Cambodian and Laos food is a blend of the modern Asian flavours which Australians adore, but somehow it is still very unknown.

“These are the meals I grew up eating with my family, and now with my own family, and can be found on any street-corner throughout Cambodia.

MasterChef ignited the passion for me to bring delicious Cambodian-style food to more Australians, so it was the perfect fit to be able to work with Make-Out Meals to send my recipes far and wide, and continue to raise the profile of this cuisine.”

The business works with more than 40 chefs and restaurants, bringing their delicious meals to the broader public so they can make them at home.

“We thought we had covered everything when it came to cuisines,” CEO and Founder of Make-Out Meals Billy Green said.

“As soon as we tried Linda’s dishes, we knew we had something special and that these would be an instant winner with our customers.

“As always we’re excited to showcase something new for customers to recreate in their own home.”

Linda’s recipes are available to order on the Make-Out Meals website now, with more recipes to be released in coming weeks.

Prices start from under $9 per plate and customers can order for between two to six people as a one-off box, or as an ongoing subscription.

Make-Out Meals is the latest meal kit subscription service to enter the market with recipes crafted by top Australian chefs and restaurants, in a bid to bring together local players to take on foreign-owned heavyweights such as Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon.

A concept borne out of lockdowns, they have seen rapid growth spurred on by the #supportlocal movement.

Since their inception, Make-Out Meals has continued to grow rapidly, and it’s hard to argue with a 94 per cent return customer rate and hundreds of five-star reviews.

On top of this, Make-Out Meals is working towards becoming the first meal kit company in Australia to use completely sustainable packaging by the end of 2023.
