The Aussie couple behind a best-selling rug business adored by shoppers around the country have launched 13 “ludicrously light” picnic rugs just in time for a hot, hot summer.
Alexandra and Aaron Weller are the brains behind Miss Amara, which started from home and which is now their full-time job.
Their latest launch is 13 summer picnic rugs that are so light they’re like a throw – making them perfect for just picking up and taking with you to your next weekend picnic.

Each of the rugs is hand-woven in India from 100 per cent recycled PET fibres.
There is a minimum of 66 recycled bottles in each and every rug.
There are many different styles to choose from on the Miss Amara website, whether you’re into striking and bold patterns or more muted tones.
Standouts in the collection include the Bakari Pink and Orange Boho Picnic Rug (from $129), which features a traditional floral pattern, as well as those in burnt reds, pinks and oranges.
Another highlight is the Mitsy Multi Colour Picnic Rug (from $129) if you like bright colours.
This particular style features a gemoetric pattern that will look perfect whether the buy is used for picnics, a throw in your home or even a wall hanging.
Finally, if purples are more your thing, you might like to get your hands on the Lupita Blue and Purple Floral Picnic Rug (from $129).
And there are another 10 styles to choose from online.
There are two different sizes available to be shopped, 180cm x 120cm ($129) or 230cm x 160cm ($189).
Miss Amara says the rugs are “stain-resistant, pet-friendly and machine washable”, making them the perfect choice if you have children or pets coming on your picnics.
While the picnic rugs are new and as yet without any shopper reviews, the Miss Amara website is peppered with praise from shoppers who’ve snapped up their other wares.

Miss Amara was started by Alexandra and Aaron after they tried and failed to buy a rug online.
They wanted to change how people shop for rugs, after they found that many people add the items to their basket, only to get rid of them at the checkout and put them in the “too hard” basket.
To do this, they have styling services on hand, so you can speak to people and “try out” a rug in your home when you upload a photograph of your space.
