Woolworths’ new warning to anyone who places drinks on its conveyor belts

Woolworths has issued a new warning to all customers who purchase drinks at its stores.

Sharing on social media, the retail giant advised shoppers that there is a specific way that cans and bottles of drinks — such as Prime, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Red Bull and water — should be placed on the conveyor belt.

In the video, Woolworths spokesperson Liam Kirley revealed that customers must always stand the cans and drinks upright when they go through the checkout.

He explained that if they’re laid down on the conveyor belt, they will not move forward on the belt towards the register.

“If you buy Prime, water, Sprite, Coke, Red Bull, Mother, Powerade or any other drinks, we recommend you don’t put them on the conveyor belt like so,” he said, alongside footage of him laying the cans and bottles down at the checkout.

“Otherwise this happens.”

The footage then showed how the cans and bottles don’t move forward on the belt — rolling on in the same spot instead.

Liam added: “We recommend you stand your drinks upright to avoid this.”

Other Woolworths workers were quick to comment on the post, agreeing with the checkout hack.

“Woolies worker here, I agree with this man,” said one. “Although it is funny to watch when they do start rolling.”

One more joked: “Nah keep doing it, literally the highlight of my shift when I used to work in groceries.”

Many Woolies shoppers were thankful for the tip.

“I never thought of this will use next time!” one said.

But others said they found it “satisfying” to watch the bottles and cans roll around on the conveyor belt.

“But that’s the fun of it,” said one.

One more added: “I’m gonna try this now!”
