Bmw: BMW iX1 electric SUV sold out for 2023: Everything you need to know about BMW’s latest EV

BMW India has announced that the new BMW iX1 electric SUV has been sold out for 2023. The company launched the EV yesterday i.e., September 28th at Rs 66.9 lakh (ex-showroom). The new iX1 electric SUV will be bought in India via CBU (completely built-up unit) and the company has not announced the exact number of units allocated for the Indian market.

Customers can book the new iX1 by visiting the company’s official website and the deliveries are slated to begin from October onwards. The BMW iX1 will be available in a single xDrive30 M Sport variant and the EV SUV is the most affordable electric BMW in India. BMW India sells other electric models such as the i4 sedan, iX SUV and i7 luxury electric sedan.
The iX1 looks similar to the ICE X1 except for a few minor changes. The EV features a large BMW kidney grille with sleek adaptive LED headlights. The silhouette and side also look similar to the ICE X1 and it features 18-inch M light alloy wheels wrapped up in EV-specific tyres. At the rear, it gets L-shaped LED taillights with an integrated spoiler and a skid plate.

Inside, the dashboard layout remains the same as the regular X1 except for a few minor changes to differentiate it from the ICE model. Features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ambient lighting, Harmon Kardon 12 speaker sound system, massaging seats, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, digital key, wireless charging, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and more.
Talking about the battery and electric motor, the iX1 gets a floor-mounted 66.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with twin electric motors which puts out 313 hp of power and 494 Nm of torque. The EV has a claimed range of 440 km (WLTP) in one full charge and the battery can be charged from 10-80 per cent in just 29 minutes using a 130 kW DC fast charger.

The BMW iX1 comes with a BMW 11 kW wall box charger which takes 6.3 hours to fully charge the battery. BMW claims the iX1 can sprint from 0-100 kph in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 180 kph.
Safety features include six airbags. ABS, stability control, traction control, cornering brake control, electric parking brake with auto hold, hill start assist, active park distance control, rearview camera, parking assistant, ISOFIX mounts and TPMS. The iX1 also features a Lane Departure warning, cruise control with brake function, automatic emergency braking and pedestrian protection.
