A popular Asian restaurant in Sydney has been fined more than $5000 by the local council for unsafe food practices.
Zilver in Westfield Bondi Junction was issued a total of five fines in August 2023 when authorities from the Waverley Council inspected the restaurant.
Details of the fines were made public on the NSW Food Authority’s website once they were paid.

The most expensive penalty the Cantonese eatery was fined for was for handling food that was “intended for sale in a manner that will render, or is likely to render, the food unsafe”.
That fine cost the business’s owners $1540 alone.
Four other fines were issued during the same inspection, each costing $880.
Two of them were for failing to maintain the premises to the required standard of cleanliness and failing to maintain premises, fixtures, fittings, and equipment in a good state of repair and working order.
The remaining fines were for failing to ensure that persons undertaking or supervising food handling operations had knowledge of food safety and failing to take all steps necessary to prevent food contamination.
