Google: 3 things PM Modi, Google CEO Sundar Pichai discussed during their virtual call

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai virtually and discussed the company’s plans to participate in expanding the electronics manufacturing ecosystem in India.
From UPI to made in India Chromebooks, Pichai emphasised Google’s commitment to contribute to the development trajectory of India.
Chromebooks in India
Modi appreciated Google’s partnership with HP to manufacture Chromebooks in India. Recently, HP and Google announced a partnership under which the companies will manufacture Chromebooks in India.
The partnership will not only push the companies’ joint vision to support the digital education ecosystem in the country but also provide more students a chance to enhance their learning by means of affordable, safe, and high-quality computing devices.
The Chromebooks will be manufactured at the Flex Facility near Chennai, where HP has been producing a range of laptops and desktops since August 2020.
Fintech operations centre in Gujarat
Pichai also announced the opening of our global fintech operation centre in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar.
“It was an honour to meet PM Modi during the historic visit to the US. We shared with the prime minister that Google is investing $10 billion in India’s digitisation fund. We are announcing the opening of our global fintech operation centre in GIFT City, Gujarat,” Pichai said.
Modi welcomed Google’s plans to open its global fintech operations centre in Gujarat.
AI and UPI
Modi acknowledged Google’s 100 languages initiative and encouraged efforts to make AI tools available in Indian languages. He also encouraged Google to work on AI tools for good governance.
The PM also invited Google to contribute to the upcoming global partnership on the AI summit, which will be hosted by India in December 2023 in New Delhi.
Pichai also informed the PM about the company’s plans to improve financial inclusion in India by leveraging the strength and reach of GPay and UPI.
