Port Adelaide veteran and former West Coast ruck Scott Lycett has made the decision to end his AFL career.
Lycett’s five-year deal, signed after winning the 2018 premiership with West Coast, has expired and the 146-gamer was not offered an extension at Alberton.

There was some thought Lycett might play on with a rival club.
In fact, Lycett’s manager Colin Young recently said his client had undergone some medicals at other clubs who were showing an interest in the 31-year-old.
But now Port Adelaide says Lycett has indicated that he will call it a day.
Lycett knew his time was up during the recent trade period when Port Adelaide brought in Richmond’s Ivan Soldo and Western Bulldogs’ Jordon Sweet on deadline day.
Young also revealed that Lycett may have kept playing if he had been wanted at Port.
In a statement on the club’s website, senior coach Ken Hinkley thanked Lycett for his services.
“Scott has been an outstanding contributor for two clubs across his 146 games, including as a premiership player at West Coast,” Hinkley said.
“He was an incredible workhorse for our club during the last five seasons and was totally focussed on putting his teammates first. As a former Port Adelaide junior, Scott was Port Adelaide through and through and we thank him for his passion and commitment to our club.
“We congratulate Scott on a great career and we will look for an opportunity next year to acknowledge and celebrate his career more formally.”
Soldo is looming as Port’s No.1 tap gun in 2024, with Sweet to be his back-up.
Port Adelaide also made three other list changes, with Orazio Fantasia, Sam Hayes and Jake Pasini to depart the club.
7NEWS chief AFL reporter Mitch Cleary broke the news on Friday night that Carlton had swooped on delisted free agent Fantasia.
Fantasia, a South Australian will return to Victoria to play for his third AFL club, having been traded from Essendon to the Power ahead of the 2021 season.
“Orazio Fantasia will join the Blues on a two-year deal, reuniting with coach Michael Voss — his old assistant coach at the Power,” Cleary said.
“While Fantasia’s only played four games in the last two years through injury, the Blues see significant upside for a small forward who’s just turned 28, and once kicked 39 goals in a season at Essendon.”
Fantasia had been courted by the GWS Giants in recent weeks, who had offered a spot on their rookie list for the livewire small forward, but the security at the Blues was too good to ignore, Cleary explained.
