SEATTLE — Cornerback Sam Womack got activated off the 49ers’ Injured Reserve list today, making his special-teams prowess available for their 5:20 p.m. kickoff at the Seahawks.
Womack has been out since the season opener with a knee injury. In a corresponding roster move, the 49ers waived cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles, who sustained a shoulder injury in Sunday’s 27-14 win over the Tampa Bay Bucs.
A fifth-round draft pick last year, Womack is a defensive option off the bench, including at nickel back, but he’s especially excelled on their special teams units.

OFFENSIVE LINE DEPTH
The 49ers elevated guard Jesse Davis and center Corey Luciano off the practice squad.
Starting guards Aaron Banks (toe) and Spencer Burford (knee) are both listed as questionable to play today.
Banks has missed the past two games and he returned to practice in limited fashion Tuesday. Burford did not practice this week because of last Sunday’s knee injury.
INJURED RESERVE WATCH
Womack’s activation comes after fellow cornerback Darrell Luter Jr’s Saturday off the physically unable to perform list. Both players had their three-week evaluation window open Nov. 6, as was the case with rookie defensive end Robert Beal Jr., who was downgraded today to out; the 49ers have a couple of more days before determining if Beal will join Womack as one of their eight-alloted spots for short-term IR candidates.
Also under consideration for that short-term IR category is wide receiver Danny Gray, who’s recovered from a preseason shoulder injury.
