‘Hope you had fun with my boyfriend last night’: Flyers blanket Sydney suburb of Bondi

Sydneysiders in one suburb woke on Sunday morning to flyers stuck to their car windscreens, seemingly from a scorned woman.

“Hope you had fun with my boyfriend last night,” the flyers left on vehicles around Bondi read.

“If you want your clothes back, you’re going to have to hire them on onewardrobe.com.”

But while the flyers were addressed “Hey b****” from “Jake’s girlfriend Sarah”, they were in fact just a clever marketing campaign from luxury fashion rental platform One Wardrobe.

The flyers were widely shared on social media, with many people saying they had initially believed they really were from a scorned girlfriend.

“It’s either a bad day to be Jake or this brand has done the best PR stunt I’ve seen in a while,” influencer Holly Kingston shared on her Instagram story.

“The best marketing I’ve seen,” a TikTok user said. “I literally fell for it.”

One Wardrobe shared a round-up of reactions to the flyers on its Instagram, declaring “the tea is piping hot”.

“In case you missed it, Sarah went on a rampage around Bondi this morning,” it said.

One Wardrobe founder Brittany Wheeler told 7NEWS.com.au: “With so much Christmas and Black Friday advertising noise in the market, we wanted to cut through and do something different.

“The brand was built and born in Bondi so it was the perfect spot for the stunt.

“We recently launched our peer-to-peer fashion rental marketplace where women can lend and borrow their wardrobe directly within our community of sharers so brand awareness was one of our main objectives.

“With so many unwanted Christmas gifts going to landfill, women can feel great knowing (they are) shopping sustainably, saving money and supporting fellow Australian women every time they hire.

“Plus with the current inflationary environment, women can also use our platform to earn extra money by renting out designer items in their wardrobe.

“Only needing to co-ordinate dry cleaning and postage, it offers little effort and a solid reward.”
