Mumbai: Well, did Jasprit Bumrah mean Hardik Pandya? We cannot really confirm but Bumrah’s Instagram story is making waves. A couple of days after Hardik Pandya was signed up by the Mumbai Indians, Bumrah has taken to Instagram and posted a very cryptic caption. His caption reads: “SILENCE is sometimes the best answer.”
After Bumrah posted this on his Instagram story, fans have gone into speculative mode. Some fans reckon Bumrah too had captaincy ambitions and hence he is a little disappointed, while other seem clueless about it.
“Jasprit Bumrah has just posted a very strange Instagram story one day after Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians. Did Bumrah want to become MI’s captain after Rohit Sharma?,” tweeted one user.
“Jasprit Bumrah is clearly unhappy. Should Jasprit Bumrah be Mumbai Indians’ next captain or do you vote for Hardik Pandya?,” wrote another user.
The all-rounder spent two momentous years with GT, spearheading their campaign with aplomb. In GT’s debut season in 2022, Hardik ensured a fairytale start, with the team lifting the coveted trophy, while they finished runners-up in their second season after a last-ball defeat in a thrilling final earlier this year.
In a separate trade, MI all-rounder Cameron Green has been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Green, who was bought for a whopping ₹17,50,00,000 at the auction last December, featured in 16 matches.
He was released by Mumbai ahead of IPL 2022 mega auctions and became captain of Gujarat franchise, leading them to the title in their debut season in 2022, becoming Player of the Match in the final against Rajasthan Royals and led them to a runners-up finish in 2023.
