Emma Sleep’s Comfort Mattress has been named the best of 2023 by CHOICE.
The consumer advocacy organisation reviews brands and their various household goods to help customers make informed choices about appliances and more expensive household products.
As it does every year, CHOICE looked at the quality of 39 models and lab tested each to see how it performs under pressure.

To simulate eight years’ worth of wear, the CHOICE team run an industrial roller over each mattress 30,000 times, and check for sagging.
“We test how much fluid a mattress takes in, to simulate how permeable it is to sweat over time. Lower-scoring mattresses take in more fluid. Fluid can cause damage and odour buildup over time,” the research said.
“Using an oscilloscope we measure the movement of the mattress after a standard impact (17.5kg). This test simulates a sleeping person’s body turning.
“We also count how many bounces up and down the mattress shows before it stops moving. Higher-scoring mattresses show fewer bounces and less movement during standard impact.”
After testing, it was the Emma Sleep Comfort Mattress that came out on top.
