A Woolworths customer has taken aim at the supermarket giant after spotting the price of a popular Christmas buy in stores.
Sharing on Facebook, the shopper said he was alarmed to see that one variety of plum puddings cost a whopping $80 at Woolies.
He shared an image of the range of Ray’s Traditional Home Made Plum Puddings, showing how they were priced at $35, $52, $67 and $80.

“Woolworths, please tell me that you’re pulling my leg with these prices,” he said.
Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au, a Woolworths spokesperson has explained that the range is at a higher price point as it’s a handmade high quality product from a smaller supplier.
“We support a number of Australian suppliers to help bring their unique products to market,” the spokesperson said.
“This particular product has been handmade since 1930, and at 1.8 kilos serves 16 people.
“We know people are looking for value so all our stores also offer a range of value options starting from our Classic Plum Pudding which is $5.50.”
The supermarket also offers a range of more affordable Christmas dessert options, including:
- Woolworths Classic Plum Pudding 700g – $5.50
- Woolworths Decadent Chocolate Sponge Pudding 500g – $7.80
- Woolworths Indulgent Salted Caramel Pudding 500g – $7.80
Ray’s Home Made Plum Puddings are also sold at Coles supermarkets, with prices ranging from $39 to $88.
