Japan-spec new Swift: Engine
The Japan-spec Swift features a 1,197cc, 12-valve DOHC engine that belts out 82 hp and 108 Nm. The power plant is mated to a CVT transmission. The manufacturer has also launched a mild-hybrid variant that employs a DC synchronous motor that bumps the power figures with an additional 3.1 hp and 60 Nm of torque. Speaking of the fuel-efficiency figures, the standard and mild-hybrid Swift models boast a mileage of 23.4 kmpl and 24.5 kmpl, respectively, on the WLTP cycle.

The hatchback features a slew of design upgrades which include a redesigned front bumper and a new grille, updated headlamps and LED DRLs. The Suzuki logo now graces the apex of the bonnet while the sides feature newly-designed dual-tone alloy wheels. Other notable features include blacked-out ORVMs, roofs, and pillars. The rear is equipped with a redesigned tailgate, accompanied by a new bumper featuring a skid plate underneath. Furthermore, it gets an integrated rear spoiler with a stop lamp, LED tail lights with C-shaped DRLs, and reflectors positioned below.
Next-gen Swift India launch
Maruti Suzuki is expected to bring the next-gen Swift in India in the second of 2024. Although it will get the same engine as the Japan-spec model, we can expect a different state of tune to suit the Indian conditions. Talking about the expected price, it is possible that the company will launch the model with a price tag somewhere in the Rs 6.5-6.70 lakh, ex-showroom, ballpark.
