The Toymate yo-yo ball toy has a silicone/elastic cord which extends further than 500mm, which the ACCC said could stretch or wind around a child’s neck, “especially if swung around the head”.

“There is a risk of death or serious injury from strangulation,” it said.

Consumers have been urged by the national regulator to “stop using the toy immediately” and to cut the cord off.

The toy can be returned to its place of purchase for a pull refund.

For more information, consumers can contact Toymate on customerservice@toymate.com.au or call 1300 869 628.
