MSI may unveil a new handheld PC gaming console at CES 2024

Taiwanese laptop maker MSI is reportedly working on a new handheld gaming PC. MSI Claw is expected to take on rivals like Valve‘s Steam Decke, Asus ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. The company took to social media platform X to share a brief teaser which is rumoured to be about the upcoming gaming device. However, the company hasn’t mentioned if the teaser is about the handheld gaming PC.According to a report by VideoCardz, pictures of MSI’s Claw handheld have also appeared on X.

MSI Claw handheld gaming PC: What to expect
As per the leaked images on X, the MSI Claw looks similar to Asus’ ROG Ally. The upcoming handheld PC is also expected to come equipped with offset thumbsticks and RGB lighting. Moreover, the control layout including the small buttons flanking the edges of the screen as well as device ventilation and the design choices also look very similar to Asus’ handheld gaming device.
Leaked benchmarks also suggest that MSI’s handheld will be powered by one of Intel’s latest Meteor Lake processors. For comparison, both Lenovo and Asus use AMD’s Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor for their respective handheld devices.

Historically, GPU drivers haven’t been the strongest suit for Intel. So, users will get to know how this new Meteor Lake chip handles games once the device is officially announced.

The leaked specs also suggest that the MSI Claw will have 32GB of memory, which is twice what’s available on the Legion Go or ROG Ally.

However, the leaks don’t reveal the screen size, resolution or whether MSI is using an OLED panel for the Claw. The leaked photo shows that the upcoming device looks like it will have a similar seven-inch screen like the Asus ROG Ally. MSI is expected to share more details about the new handheld PC gaming device at CES next week.
