T for transparent: LG unveils world’s 1st wireless OLED TV see-through display

After announcing that it will showcase its proprietary OLED innovations at CES 2024, LG Electronics has unveiled the world’s first wireless transparent TV. Called LG Signature OLED T, the TV has a glass for a display that looks as if it disappears when turned off.
LG said that the TV combines transparent OLED technology with wireless AV transmission and reception for viewers to “see beyond the screen and eliminating the need for visible wires around the screen”.The TV has a self-lit pixel technology that enables it to maintain the picture quality and it has a 4K resolution.
LG Signature OLED T has two modes
LG Signature OLED T offers two distinctive screen modes: transparent and black. In transparent mode, those watching the TV can watch content overlapping with what’s behind it. If you want to watch the TV in the traditional style, you can click on the remote control to switch the screen to black.
LG Signature OLED T features
The LG Signature OLED T is equipped with an updated AI processor, the Alpha 11 and it runs LG Electronics’ webOS smart TV operating system. LG says that the TV offers four times the performance of its predecessor – 70% greater graphics performance and 30% faster processing speeds.
As per the company, the Alpha 11 processor enhances picture quality by analysing footage and then does colour correction and matching it with spatial sound. Furthermore, the OLED T’s houses down-firing speakers and the company says the TV will come in standalone, against-the-wall and wall-mounted options.
The TV comes with the company’s Zero Connect Box that sends video and audio wirelessly to the TV. The box can be used to connect streaming devices and game consoles. LG Electronics said the LG Signature OLED T will hit the global market later this year.
