Microsoft’s Copilot may soon get a paid ‘Pro’ version

Microsoft started offering its Copilot AI service (previously known as Bing Chat) on mobile devices for a while. The service allows users to speak to a chatbot, generate AI images and more. The tech giant has kept this chatbot free for a long time. Now, recent Edge browser updates for Android suggest that the company is planning to roll out a Copilot Pro option.

Microsoft Copilot Pro: What to expect

According to a report by Android Authority, references to a so-called “Copilot Pro” service in version 122.0.2336.0 and version 122.0.2342.0 of the Microsoft Edge Canary app for Android. One of these strings specifically mentions that Copilot Pro will be a paid service. This suggests that the upcoming Pro version of the Copilot is expected to be a subscription-based offering like ChatGPT Plus, the report adds.
Another code string has also revealed the benefits for using the Copilot Pro perks. This includes access to the latest AI models, priority access for quicker answers and “high-quality” image generation. It’s important to note that the current free version of Copilot already offers access to the latest models and high-quality image generation. So, Microsoft may downgrade the free tier by restricting some of these perks to Copilot Pro in the coming days, the report suggests..
However, the report didn’t mention the number of replies and conversations that will be accessible to Copilot Pro users. For comparison, Copilot is currently restricted to 30 replies per chat session as well as 300 conversations per day.
Recently, the company started testing a new feature for its popular PC operating system Windows 11. This feature will automatically open AI-powered Copilot when Windows starts. The company is currently testing this feature with some Windows Insiders in Dev Channel. Apart from Windows, Microsoft is also incorporating Copilot in many other services.
