Two men airlifted to hospital after quad bike crash with teens north of Forster, in NSW

A man has been charged after two quad bikes collided north of Forster, in NSW, earlier this month.

The 20-year-old and his male passenger were airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries. The two young teens they collided with were also hospitalised with minor injuries.

The 20-year-old man was riding with a 29-year-old male passenger, both allegedly without helmets, and on an unregistered vehicle, when the accident occurred on Newby Rd, Pampoolah, at 4am on January 21.

Their quad bike allegedly collided with a second, stationary quad bike ridden by two boys, aged 15 and 16, NSW Police said.

“Both men were airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital, while the boys were taken to Manning Base Hospital at Taree with minor injuries,” NSW Police said.

The 20-year-old man was arrested on Bushland Dr, Taree at 9.30pm on Friday after extensive police inquiries.

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving, driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period, and using an unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road.

He appeared before Port Macquarie Local Court on Saturday, January 27 and was granted strict conditional bail, and is due to appear before Taree Local Court on Tuesday, February 13.
