The Orange started the season strong with a 20-7 drubbing of the Vermont Catamounts on Saturday. It was a welcome win after news broke earlier in the day that fifth year senior and Orange captain Max Rosa would be out for the season with injury.
Syracuse’s leading scorer from the 2023 season, Joey Spallina, was back in front of the pack in the game, piling up seven points (three goals, four assists) in the win, and scoring with behind-the-back passes and off-angle charges to the net. New addition Christian Mulé, a Lehigh transfer, notched five points (three goals, two assists) in his Orange debut.
Now Syracuse will square off with the Raiders, who picked up a narrow 13-12 win over Penn State in their season debut on Saturday. Syracuse is 49-12-1 in the all-time head-to-head against Colgate, and beat them 21-14 in their last meeting in 2020.
