Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian has issued a warning to fans ahead of the release of this week’s major new update. Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 6 is expected to drop on February 15, although no official timeline has been confirmed. The new update makes lots of bug fixes and gameplay improvements, all the while adding new features to the game. While the introduction of new features and improvements is good news for fans, the launch of the Patch might create some problems, especially for Steam users.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Larian explained that the patch would be much bigger than usual.
While update 6 weighs in at a massive 21GB on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it’s nothing compared to the size of the Steam and Steam Deck download.
Indeed, according to Larian, Steam users will need to set aside a whopping 150GB of free space to make room for the patch.
The company recommends deleting Baldur’s Gate 3 and re-downloading the patched version later this week. You’ll also need to make some room on consoles if you don’t have enough space.
Larian explains more: “Releasing on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, Patch 6 is 21GB and requires approximately 150GB of free space for PC & SteamDeck. Short on space? Uninstall BG3 and re-download the patched version!”
It’s unclear if it’s the same on Mac, with Larian explaining that the Mac update will launch at a later date.
With the update just hours away from making its debut, Larian has given fans a sneak peek about what to expect.
Announcing the update, Larian told fans to expect improved kissing animations between characters.
Players will also be able to dismiss recruited companions from the party, while Shield Bash and Rebuke of the Mighty have also been fixed.
In addition to new camp idle animations, dialogue fixes and Legendary Actions, the upcoming update will also make a ton of bug fixes.
Daily Express will be back with the full list of Baldur’s Gate 3 Update 6 patch notes later this week.
