Billy Peltzer was warned not to get his shiny new G Wagen wet, feed it after midnight, or let it out in bright light, but did he listen? Not a chance. Now destruction is upon us as the lovable G has been transformed into its evil counterpart, the gigantic havoc-wreaking mischief-on-four-wheels Unimog. A horrifying menace if ever there were one. It’s a whole lot more truck than anyone ever bargained for, especially Billy. That’s why it’s now available for sale on eBay Motors for a mere $46,500.

This early Unimog is basically a tractor with a license plate, and it’s far more utility than the luxury you know Mercedes-Benz for, which is what makes it all the more awesome. This is a slow, plodding, workhorse of a truck that can roll over damn near anything and can just as easily tackle a mountain pass as it can till a row of hops for your biergarten. This big 4×4 was treated to a sympathetic restoration in recent years to the tune of nearly 30,000 US dollars.

This one was used as a farm implement in France for most of its life before getting imported to the U.S. It is equipped from the factory with locking differentials, hydraulic bed tilt, a hydraulic power take-off, and winches on the front and rear. No matter what you’re doing, the Unimog can probably make the job a bit easier. Unless you’re trying to go highway speeds. It won’t do that.

The seller says this big convertible truck has done just 227 kilometers since the restoration, and it runs and looks great. From the photos it certainly looks like it’s all intact and pretty enough. This hulking behemoth could be your next work truck, and you’d be twenty times cooler than the guy with a new John Deere. It’s probably a good bit cheaper, too.
