Watch: Ather Rizta e-scooter battery’s smartphone-like 40 ft drop test, here’s what happened

In a unique experiment designed to test durability of electric scooter batteries, Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer Ather Energy put its battery pack to a rather unconventional drop test. We have often seen creators and brands conducting drop tests for smartphones, similarly, the EV maker decided to follow suit and test the toughness of their e-scooter batteries.
The experiment involved dropping the battery pack from a height of 40 feet, mimicking the potential impact it could experience in a real-world accident scenario that involves high Gs. Ather documented the entire process in a video, which Swapnil Jain, co-founder of the company, has shared on his X handle. He highlighted that the aluminum casings of the battery substantially improve both safety and thermal performance.

Ather Rizta battery drop test: Did the battery survive the fall?
The video shows that the Ather battery pack was dropped from a height of 40 feet using a crane and it remained relatively unscathed. Moreover, it is interesting to note that these batteries are the same that will be employed in the upcoming Ather Rizta family scooter.
The company is readying a more practical, family-oriented electric scooter after the success of its performance-oriented 450 series. Set for a debut on April 6, the Rizta electric scooter boasts of a larger seat offering, claimed to be the largest in the segment by the company.
While more details about the upcoming model remain under the wraps, the manufacturer has been teasing the EV from quite some time now and had recently partnered with standup comic Anubhav Singh Bassi, who posted a camouflaged version of the scooter on his social media handle as part of a marketing campaign.
