A juvenile who allegedly killed a man after crashing his car into others while fleeing police has been arrested, Vallejo Police announced Saturday.
The suspect was not identified.
On the evening of August 30, 2023, Vallejo officers spotted a Toyota Avalon that was a suspect vehicle in a string of armed robberies in the city, the department wrote on Instagram. They attempted a felony stop with their lights on near the intersection of Tennessee and Tuolumne streets, but the vehicle did not pull over. Officers ended their pursuit when the vehicle passed out of sight on Tennessee St.
Right after that, another unit spotted the same vehicle weaving in and out of traffic at high speed. They followed it until reaching a collision site near Springs Road and Tregaskis Ave. The suspect car collided with two other vehicles, police said, and a man in a non-involved vehicle was killed on the spot. The Vallejo Sun identified the crash victim as 59-year-old Hudson Standley, a U.S. Army veteran who grew up in Oregon.
The driver of the suspect vehicle escaped on foot, and police found a loaded firearm and also a female passenger in the car, who had injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Detectives obtained a warrant for the driver and, on March 20, officers conducted a felony traffic stop and captured the wanted juvenile near the intersection of Ohio and Sutter streets. The department is urging anyone with information about the case to contact Detective Jordon Patzer at 707-648-4278 (Jordon.Patzer@cityofvallejo.net) or Detective Daniel Callison at 707-648-4533 (Daniel.Callison@cityofvallejo.net).
