The launch event, dubbed “Play Date”, will take place on April 18.
New Delhi: London-based consumer tech company Nothing has announced it will be launching two new true wireless earbuds – the Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a) – on April 18, 2024. The company, led by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, says these products represent “the ultimate iteration of Nothing Audio” after three years of design and engineering refinements.
Nothing Rebranding Audio Products
In a notable shift, Nothing is resetting its naming strategy for audio products. Instead of continuing with numbered iterations like the Ear (1) and Ear (2), the new flagship earbuds will simply be called “Nothing Ear”. The more affordable version will be dubbed “Nothing Ear (a)”, similar to the recently launched Nothing Phone (2a) smartphone.
“2024 is the year we’re unveiling the ultimate iteration of Nothing Audio with two new products,” Nothing stated. “With this significant milestone, we’ve reset our naming strategy, stripping back the numbers to center the focus around the product and the unique experience.”
Nothing Ear, Ear(a): Launch
While no specifications or pricing details have been revealed yet, the Nothing Ear are expected to be the successor to the well-received Nothing Ear (1) that originally launched in 2021. Those earbuds featured a distinctive transparent design, active noise cancellation (ANC), 11.6mm drivers, and were priced at Rs 5,499 in India.
The launch event, dubbed “Play Date”, will take place on April 18. Nothing’s India division has also shared the announcement, strongly hinting at the earbuds’ imminent release in the country following the global unveiling.
This launch closely follows Nothing’s foray into the mid-range smartphone segment with the Nothing Phone (2a).
With the Ear and Ear (a), the company appears to be strategically expanding its portfolio across various price points.
Tech enthusiasts and Nothing fans are eagerly awaiting more details about the upcoming earbuds. Given Nothing’s design-centric approach, the Ear and Ear (a) are expected to carry forward the brand’s signature transparent aesthetics while delivering enhancements in audio quality, features, and overall user experience.
