Chelsea ‘planning to part ways’ with Armando Broja

When Fulham took Armando Broja on loan in January, they were hoping that he would help solve their post-Mitrović goalscoring problems.

And the Chelsea Academy striker did indeed do just that … by sitting on the bench and watching Rodrigo Muniz score eight goals in Fulham’s next eight Premier League games (after scoring a grand total of zero goals in the first half of the season).

Muniz has slowed down a bit in recent weeks, but Broja has remained a fringe player for our friendly neighbors — so much so that they owe us a few million for not meeting the minimum playing time proviso in the contract.

All told, Broja still has just the two goals that he scored for Chelsea to his name this season, and that’s not exactly a good return, even when accounting for the fact that he’s coming back from major knee surgery. We could certainly use a proper No.9, but Broja isn’t looking like the one at the moment.

So it’s unsurprising that, according to Fabrizio Romano, we are “planning to part ways” with the 22-year-old this summer.

We heard similar rumors in the last window as well, when our reported £50m asking price already proved to be far too optimistic. I don’t imagine any teams would value Broja that high at the moment, even if he has four more years left on his Chelsea contract, but I also don’t imagine we’d turn our nose up at any decent offer either.
