New Delhi: India’s only warm-up game against Bangladesh at the T20 World Cup 2024 will be held at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 1, according to reports. In general, teams at any ICC events get atleast two warm-up games but with the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) finishing on May 26, the Men in Blue won’t be getting all their players as five out of the 15 will be playing in the playoffs.

As a result, the Indian team will be departing in two batches to the USA and West Indies. With India playing three of their four group games at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, the warm-up game will give Rohit Sharma’s men an idea about the conditions and how the pitch behaves. Notably, drop-in pitches have been installed at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium and the IND vs BAN encounter will be first time a cricket match to be played on the wicket.

In New York, India will play Ireland (June 5), Pakistan (June 9) and co-hosts USA (June 12). The 2007 champions will play Canada in their last group encounter at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.

The ICC on May 16 had announced the warm-up fixtures but didn’t reveal the venue for the India vs Bangladesh warm-up game. As far as Team India’s departure for the mega event is concerned, the first batch of players will include Rohit, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh and the support staff.

Shubman Gill and Khaleel Ahmed, who are among the four travelling reserves, will also be a part of the first batch of the Indian team. The second batch of players who will depart after the IPL 2024 final are Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal along with Rinku Singh and Avesh Khan (travelling reserves).
