Toyota Innova Hycross Hybrid ZX and ZX(O) bookings temporarily stop: Here’s why

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) launched the Toyota Innova Hycross back in December 2022. Since then the MPV has been a success and has a huge demand in the Indian market. The company had temporarily halted the bookings for the top-of-the-line ZX and ZX(O) hybrid variants in April 2023, which resumed a year later in April 2024. And yet again, just after a month Toyota has temporarily halted the bookings for the top-spec hybrid variants.

The bookings have been halted in response to the prolonged waiting period. The waiting period for the top-spec hybrid variants is close to 15 months and the bookings are expected to reopen once the waiting time on these variants comes down. However, interested customers can still book the mid-spec VX and VX (O) hybrid and the booking amount is set at Rs 50,000. The waiting period for these two variants is also close to 3 months.

In other news, the company recently launched the Toyota Innova Hycross GX(O) variant with prices starting from Rs 20.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This new GX(O) variant will be available for the non-hybrid version. The new variant will sit above the GX trim costs Rs 1 lakh higher than the GX variant and will be offered in both 7 and 8-seater options. For a lakh extra, this new variant adds features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, dual-tone interior, automatic climate control, rear automatic blower control, dual-tone seats, soft-touch dashboard, LED front fog lamps, rear retractable sunshade (seven-seater only), 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors.

The Innova Hycross GX (O) petrol is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine which puts out 173hp of power and 209Nm of torque. It comes paired only with a CVT automatic gearbox which sends power to front wheels. The Hycross is also offered with a 2.0-litre strong hybrid petrol engine which puts out a combined 184hp of power and comes with an e-Drive transmission.
Both engines of the Innova Hycross are front-wheel drive only and do not get a manual transmission option. Toyota claims a fuel efficiency figure of 23.24kpl for the hybrid and the regular petrol variants get a claimed fuel efficiency figure of 16.13kpl.
